由于中国与西方文化差异很大,西方人对“龙”的联想和看法与中国人完全不同.
“龙”（dragon）在西方是贬义词,是邪恶的象征.在英美的很多词典中,对dragon的定义是：一种想象中的特别凶残的动物,像只巨大的蜥蜴,长着翅膀和利爪,拖着一条长长的蛇尾,嘴能喷火.在圣经故事中,dragon是罪恶的化身,人们把与上帝（the God）作对的恶魔撒旦（Satan）称为“大龙”（the great dragon）,基督圣徒还把杀死龙作为荣耀,引以为豪.
在我国古代传说中,龙是褒义词.龙是传说中能降雨、惩治妖魔鬼怪的吉祥、神奇的动物.在封建社会,龙是皇帝的象征,炎黄子孙还骄傲地自称为“龙的传人”.上下数千年,龙已渗透进了整个神州大地.龙是华夏民族的代表!是中国的象征!
我倡议大家都来主动的宣传我们的“龙”文化,让我们真正的龙文化发扬广大,而不是被动的顺应错误,说什么改图腾之类的话语.这是作为5000年文化传承人的责任与义务.
