At one time ,there were as many as fifty chautauqua-type organizations placed here and there
throughout the country as well as a few traveling chautauquas which attempted to proved the same type of program as that given in the immovable chautauquas for about a week at a time to inhabitants of various small towns and villages throughout the summer season.
